#1. Myths of Maui Luau Dinner and a Show – The Best Thing to do in Maui at Night with Family
Located at the picturesque Royal Lahaina Resort, this luau offers a unique blend of traditional Hawaiian music, dance, and cuisine. The resort stretches out on 27 exotic acres along the beautiful Ka’anapali Beach. This luau is the best on the island, and we loved every minute of it. We did general admissions, which started at 5:45 p.m. It cost $155.00 per person, which was a good deal for everything you got.
We were greeted with beautiful shell leis (awesome souvenirs), and the dancers and greeters were friendly and smiling. The setting was gorgeous. As we found seating, we were greeted with cocktails and instructed that we can start using the bar and buffet.
The buffet was rich and had my favorites like teriyaki chicken, pork, steamed Mahi, several salads, and desserts. They also have vegetarian and gluten-free options and are happy to accommodate (like tofu veggie stir fry). The bar also had amazing choices with over 10 types of cocktails. They all looked incredible but I loved the Hula Hulk (Rum, Peach Schnapps, Blue Curacao, and Orange Juice).
The sunset and tiki-lighted show were wonderful. They had a fun ceremony where they unearth Pua’a Kalua (a roast pig) from the in-ground oven. Authentic Hawaiian musicians and lots of dancers. There were traditional dances from Tahiti, Samoa, and several other places. The show finally had the fire dance, which was exciting.
Everything lasted about 3 hours and we had so much fun. There are many opportunities for pictures and a professional photographer on the spot.
This is a top night activity when in Maui because:
- Impeccable organization and everything is well planned.
- Delicious food with lots of all-you-can-eat buffet options.
- The drinks are strong and tasty and there are many options (for the whole family).
- The show is exciting, informative, and entertaining.
- Top choice for couples, families, and groups of friends. Everyone will enjoy something or everything here, so it’s well worth the price.

#2. The Dirty Monkey – Best Fun Thing to Do at Night in Maui
If you’re looking for the best nightlife and party scene on Maui, look no further than The Dirty Monkey. Located on Front Street, this popular spot is known for its lively atmosphere and diverse entertainment options.
The club was packed with locals and tourists alike on the night we visited, all enjoying the great music and lively atmosphere. We came early to grab a table, and the set started around 9 p.m. We stayed almost to the end, around 1 a.m. It got crowded, but we had so much fun it didn’t bother us. Service was still fast and professional.
The drink menu is impressive, with a wide range of cocktails, beers, and whiskeys. I highly recommend the honey girl cocktail with rum, lime, coconut, and rhubarb. My boyfriend was a fan of the whistle pig-aged rye whiskey.
I also enjoyed the music, and the DJ played diverse tracks so we could dance and rock out in one night. The club attracts guests of all (legal) ages, so have fun and relax.
This is the perfect spot to let loose because:
- The club is well stocked with great drinks and fast friendly service.
- They have themed nights such as karaoke or DJs.
- The atmosphere is relaxed and the gets are a great mix of locals and tourists.
- It’s simply the best party in town.

#3. Warren & Annabelle’s Magic – Best Thing to Do in Lahaina Maui at Night
Warren & Annabelle’s Magic show is a unique and entertaining experience on Maui. Whether you’re a magic fan or not, this show will surely delight and surprise you.
We booked tickets ahead of time and opted for the Royal Flush package, which includes a plate of tasty appetizers, 2 cocktails each, and dessert.
It was only $55.00 per person. Our time slot was the second seating, starting at about 7:30 p.m. and ending at 11:00 p.m.
Upon arrival, we were seated in a cozy saloon bar, where we enjoyed a cocktail before the main show. The theater is small and intimate, seating around 50-60 people. The magicians were hilarious, and the tricks were impressive, making for a night of comedy and magic. My jaw hurt from laughing.
The food was tasty; we especially enjoyed the tangy crab cakes and key lime pie. My boyfriend had the cheesecake, and it was also creamy and nice.
This was a great night and an opportunity to dress up a little and have fun. The show is high quality, and they try very hard to keep you entertained the whole time you are there. Overall a great deal.
Visit Warren & Annabelle’s Magic show because:
- The show is very well done with professional magicians who are also hilarious.
- The venue is beautiful, and you can enjoy the saloon and theater.
- There are nice cocktails and good food to go with your night.
- The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating.
- It’s a great value.

#4. Original Sunset Cocktail Cruise – Whale Watching and an Open Bar
For someone who is not a fan of organized tours, this is a great sunset boat ride with a lot to see and experience. We booked the sunset cocktail cruise with Sea Maui which included whale watching (available 5-6 months out of the year). It cost us $80.00 per person (21+), which was a great deal for the experience.
The cruise lasted about 2 hours and included the most beautiful panoramic views of Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and Kahoolawe. The sunset was fiery and intense (the best one on the trip). My favorite part was the whale watching as our guide pointed out some humpback whales not too far away (this was the first sighting for me – ever.) Exciting!
The cruise included pupus (the grilled lemongrass ginger shrimp skewers) were delightful. There were also vegetarian options (I believe I heard Korean fried cauliflower).
There is a full open bar as well. They offered great beers, wines, and cocktails. I enjoyed several fresh mojitos during the trip. Nonalcoholic cocktails are also available.
For a perfect night, check out the Original Sunset Cocktail Cruise because:
- Service and experience on this cruise are high quality, professional and friendly.
- It’s a perfect opportunity to see the panoramic view of Maui and the surrounding.
- You can enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime sunset with your favorite cocktail in hand.
- The food is well pared with the experience and delicious.
- You might see humpback whales – as we did.

#5. Maui Arts & Cultural Center (MACC) – Best Free Thing to Do in Maui at Night
The MACC attracts Hawaii’s best musicians, comedians, and theater performers. So be like me, and double-check all the events available during your trip.
We came twice. Once, we enjoyed a day trip to a fantastic photo and crafts exhibit. The night after, we enjoyed a concert at the Castle Theater. The space is new, and modern, and seats about 1.000 people. Everything was super clean, on time, and professional. Doors opened 30 minutes before the (7:30 p.m.) concert and the entire evening was a blast. The musicians were world-class.
On our next visit, I would love to check out outside performances in the beautiful space of the Community Events Lawn and Yokouchi Pavilion & Courtyard. Here you can see live dances and music almost every night.
They have a lot of free events, including art exhibits and music in the courtyard (bring a blanket to stretch out). Many people visit with their children, so it’s an evening activity that is friendly for the whole family. If you are a couple, the beautiful scenery will bring you some romance.
Have a great night out at Maui Arts & Cultural Center because:
- They have world-class guest musicians, comedians, theaters, and dancers.
- There are great (and different) art exhibitions year-round.
- You can catch free live music and dancing in the outdoor venues almost every night.
- The employees are friendly, helpful, and happy to see you. Feel free to ask for help or directions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
What can we do in Maui at night?
Maui has a vibrant nightlife. There is a great option of restaurants and bars right by the beaches. There are also awesome clubs that work until 1 a.m., including the famous Dirty Monkey on Front Street. Fantastic luaus are available if you prefer a family-friendly night out, like the Myths of Maui Luau Dinner and a Show. Other options include night diving and sunset and night cruises. The best one is the Original Sunset Cocktail Cruise.
Does Maui have a nightlife?
Yes. There are many bars and clubs available on Maui. Check out the Dirty Monkey for a DJ party or some karaoke. Another good choice is Charley’s Restaurant and Saloon, with DJ parties, live music, and open mic nights. Maui also hosts a free town party on Friday nights with music, food, art displays, and craft drinks. For family-friendly night events, check out the Myths of Maui Luau Dinner and a Show or one of the many free events at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.
Can you go to the beach at night in Maui?
Enjoying a sunset at the beach is better than trying night swimming. Aside from night swimming, there are other dangers (like jellyfish) and tides. Many of Maui’s beaches (County parks and beach parks) close at night. Some sand beaches are accessible 24hrs a day, but read any signs before entering. There are options to camp at the beach (free ones and ones requiring permits). An organized tour that includes diving or a cruise is a better (and safer) way to enjoy the beach at night.
