As a long-time lover (and critic) of Maui’s beachside restaurants, I know just how overwhelming the search can be. You’re probably wondering if your hard-earned money will be well-spent or if you’ll end up being disappointed by mediocre meals and lackluster views. I’ve done all the legwork so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy an incredible dining experience – every time.

#1 Pacific’o on the Beach – Best view in Maui with local food and organic produce

This is my favorite view and dinner spot on the island. The setting is breathtaking with open-air seating, a well-manicured grass garden, a sandy beach, and the ocean at your feet. If you get a reservation during sunset, you will have the most amazing sight of light and color, while sailboats pass in the distance. Overall it’s a true beach-house feel in a tropical paradise.

Seating is traditional, comfortable, and spaced out for privacy. They also have a large fully stocked bar (all with a view). We always ask for a table right next to the beach (reserve ahead) and make this our special date night spot. Dinner is well-lit with modern fixtures and candles.

The food here is extremely good. They practice farm-to-table sourcing and work with local suppliers and farmers. They also have their own private organic farm O’o Farm in Kula (you can have a tour and lunch at the farm if you visit). Some of our favorite picks from the menu are the Mahi-mahi Wellington with lobster, Kobe Beef short ribs, and Lemongrass Curry with prawns and fish. For dessert try the cheesecake mousse with tropical fruit and mango sauce.

Service is always impeccable here. The entire staff is helpful and friendly. They know their food and menu very well. They also have some great ideas to make your meal special, just ask.

#2 Humble Market Kitchin – Stunning ocean sunset view with an Asian twist

If you are lucky to get seated outside for the sunset, you will have the most beautiful view on your trip. Humble Market Kitchin is a gorgeous restaurant with a spacious open-air layout, covered outside seating, and a breathtaking view. The restaurant is located at Wailea Beach Resort-Marriott in Kihei.

When seated outside you will have a stunning view of the pool, open ocean, and tall leaning palm tree outlines. The sun sets right in front of you, so you will have the perfect pink, orange and purple skies as the backdrop to your amazing meal. The tables and chairs are simple, elegant, and comfortable. As it gets dark, your table will be lit by candles and tiki torches.

I love this place because of the food. They have an extensive dinner menu and a happy hour menu. Also many vegetarian and vegan options. My favorites are the Vietnamese-style Maui beef, Japanese-style chicken and Mochi Waffles, and the Misoyaki Butterfish. The fish is always super fresh, the meat cuts are lean and perfectly seasoned. They locally source a lot of their ingredients so everything is freshly picked and masterfully prepared.

Whenever we visit the service is awesome. The staff will check up on you multiple times without being pushy. Ask them for help with food suggestions or wine options with your meal. They are very knowledgeable.

Humble Market Kitchin is a top dinner on the beach destination because:

#3 Sea House Restaurant at Napili Kai Resort – quality food on a sandy beachfront

This stunning restaurant overlooks a fine sand beach and open ocean. To the side, there is a peninsula view of a resort and lots of tall slinky palm trees. Together it’s a great evening and night view, with comfortable seating and great service.

They have happy hour, dinner service, and extended bar hours. But the best experience is the sunset dinner. The staff is super professional and we always get seated quickly with a smile. They are knowledgeable about their menu and give great information. They also check in with you without being pushy.

The food is delicious and there are some great (and different options) here. Try the lamb chops with lemon wine sauce, the chicken breast truffle mushroom gnocchi, or the sea house burger (they have a vegetarian version too). For dessert go with the tiramisu. Whatever your choice, pair it with their long and extensive wine options. They also make a mean Mai Tai. The portions are large and filling.

#4 Fleetwood’s on Front St.- Best live music at the beach

The restaurant has a multi-level venue with open-air seating and a stunning view. This is your spot if you are looking for the pink fire sunset framed perfectly in a massive and modern design. They have both covered and open outside seating. There is a great close-up view of the ocean and usually live music. If you choose to sit inside, you will be surrounded by great artwork and rock and roll memorabilia.

If the incredible ocean and beach view is not enough they have nightly entertainment including live music and comedy. The staff is quick and friendly. Even though the restaurant is large and busy, they are perfectly organized and professional.

The drinks are strong here, so try the Mai Tyler and a Spicy Lilikoi Margarita. They also have happy hour. The food is also fresh and tasty and dinner is served until 10:00 pm. My favorites here are the Seafood Linguine with shrimp, seared scallops, Maitake mushrooms, and roasted tomatoes, and the Stuffed Prawns with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. The seafood is fresh, buttery, and perfectly seasoned. Portions are large and filling.

#5 Mama’s Fish House – The Local landmark with fresh seafood and an ocean view

Anyone near Paia shouldn’t miss out on dinner on the beach at Mama’s Fish House. The restaurant has spectacular views of the open ocean, palm trees, and a sandy beach. The tall palm trees surround the restaurant and it’s a perfect place to take a walk on after your meal.

The restaurant is decorated in beach-going Polynesian décor that is creative and interesting and gives the venue a casual vibe. There is a large and impressive full bar, with a master cocktail maker. Dinner time especially has a nice ambiance and they light tiki sources after sunset.

We love to visit this restaurant because it’s right on the beach and they serve locally caught sustainable seafood. The food served is seasonal, made from scratch, and made in-house. This shows in the taste. My favorite meal here is the seared and cut octopus and lobster soup. But they have so many choices that vary based on what was caught.

Make sure to ask your waiter for the fresh catch and what the day’s specials are. They are all knowledgeable about the food they serve and super friendly.
