#1 Lahaina Guided Cacao Farm Tour and Chocolate Tasting

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes (approx.)

Address: 78 Ulupono St Suite 1, Lahaina, HI 96761 (Ku’ia Estate Chocolate Factory)

Link: https://www.viator.com/tours/Maui/Guided-Cacao-Farm-Tour-and-Chocolate-Tasting/d671-289366P2

If you are a chocolate snob or want to become one – this is your tour! It’s also my favorite tour because it offers the complete process of chocolate making at the largest chocolate factory in Hawaii. There is so much to see, taste, and experience, and all in a small and personable group of fewer than 10 people. Our group had 6 people. This is one of the most interactive Maui farm tours available.

We loved the Ku’ia Estate Chocolate Factory because they offer the full and outright experience. After arrival, we were taken to the nearby estate which was led by a knowledgeable local tour guide. My favorite part was exploring and examining the cocoa pods growing, touching, smelling, and even tasting them (over 20 acres of cacao trees). We also got a lot of interesting information about the production of chocolate during the factory farm tour portion.

The highlight of the tour is the guided chocolate tasting, which includes tasting nine different types of chocolates. It’s done in a fun and playful way and they help you recognize different regions and tastes through examples. Overall a great experience and worth doing multiple times. It’s a family-friendly event (with older children) and also a great couples activity.

Lahaina Guided Cacao Farm Tour and Chocolate Tasting is the best offer because:

  • This is a detailed tour of the plantation, factories,s and chocolate tasting.
  • The groups are small and intimate with 6 to 10 people maximum.
  • The tour guide is informative, well-prepared, and interesting.
  • The Chocolate tasting is high quality and well organized.
  • This is a perfect activity for both families and couples.

#2 Maui Pineapple Tour – 1.5-Hour Farm Tour in Haliimaile

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes (approx.)

Address: 883 Haliimaile Rd, Makawao, HI 96768 (Hali’imaile Distilling Company)

Link: https://www.viator.com/tours/Maui/Maui-Pineapple-Tour/d671-211694P1

Even if you don’t consider yourself a pineapple fan, or a fan of such tours, you will love this one. The tour is in Hali’imaile and they have an amazing historic pineapple farm. It’s a great opportunity to have a walk through a working pineapple field. This tour is one of the top Maui pineapple tours around.

My favorite part is that you also get to taste several pineapples at different stages. They are so juicy that everyone will love the extra-sweet Maui Gold pineapples. The tour guide is funny and entertaining and it’s clear that the staff loves their jobs. You will learn a lot about the growing cycle and cultivation techniques. At the end of the tour, each guest receives a pineapple as a gift (neatly packed and transport ready).

This activity is great for all ages. But do wear some sun protection (it was nice and sunny when we visited). You will get some dirt on your shoes too, but you won’t mind. The tour lasts a little over an hour and a half, but I could have spent even more time there.

Maui Pineapple Tour – 1.5 Hour Farm Tour in Haliimaile is my second pick because:

  • It’s a great opportunity to learn about pineapple history, growing, and harvesting methods.
  • It’s a fun activity for the whole family and accessible to everyone.
  • There is an amazing opportunity to taste several pineapples at different stages.
  • At the end of the tour, each guest gets an airplane-ready pineapple as a gift, great as a gift for a friend, or a tasty treat at home.
  • The staff is impeccably entertaining and makes the tour even better.

#3 Maui Farm Distillery and local craft experience Full-Day Tour

This Maui farm tour has a beautiful upcountry Maui backdrop. The best part is that it’s a combination of many Maui farms and distilleries and artists. The tour takes you to Surfing Goat Dairy farm, Ocean Vodka Organic Farm, Haliimaile Distilling Company, Makai Glass Maui, Alii Kula Lavender farm, and even The Sacred Garden of Maliko. Since the tour lasts almost 7 hours you will get the full experience without being rushed.

This is the opportunity to try the finest products made on the island, interact with local farmers and see the authentic side of the island. There are so many great products and experiences during this tour that it’s hard to pick my favorite. I guess I could say I loved the Surfing Goat Dairy farm, Ocean Vodka Organic Farm, and Haliimaile Distilling Company the best. The lavender farm and Sacred Garden of Maliko are also amazing, but the season you visit does make a difference. If everything is in bloom, the plants are breathtaking.

One thing not to forget is the excellent service and organization. The tour guide is on point. Also, there are some breathtaking views and lots of picture-perfect opportunities throughout the day. Asides from the provided items in each visit to the farms, they also offer snacks and water for the in-between ride. This is a great couples activity if you are looking for something to do for an entire day.

Maui Farm Distillery and local craft experience Full-Day Tour is a great choice because:

  • It’s diverse and there is something for everyone including artwork, farm touring, lavender fields, and some awesome drinks.
  • It’s a full-day activity and you will get your money worth visiting some of the best spots on the island.
  • Service is top notch, friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable.

If you are looking for a local and authentic experience, visiting the best and smallest microbreweries on the island is a fun half-day adventure. This tour visits three local brewing companies and there is a lot to do and see. You will have plenty of time and not feel rushed. The tour is great because they are well organized, the ride is comfortable and fun, and (they do the driving so you can sample some awesome brews – stress-free).

We toured Waikiki Brewing, Kohola Brewing, and Mahalo Aleworks brewing companies and spent almost six hours doing it. The tour started at the third largest brewery in Hawaii, which is the quaint Waikiki Brewing Company. They took us through the process and we tried a custom flight of beer and barbeque appetizers. It was all very delicious.

At Kohola Brewery we had a great full tour and tried some original beer on a pick-your-own flight. I had fun trying options like Pineapple Blonde, Lahaina Haze, Mean Bean Coffee Stout, and Red Sand Amber Ale (the one I enjoyed the most).

We had a delicious meal in the open-air space of Mahalo Aleworks and had a more tasty local beer. Everyone was super nice and informative. They also have a great shop, and we bought some souvenir t-shirts for the family back home.

Micro-Breweries of Maui Tour is a beer lovers’ paradise tour because:

  • You get to visit three awesome breweries run and operated by the locals.
  • You get to try awesome and different flights of beer, tasty food, and filling appetizers.
  • The tour organizers are friendly, efficient, and entertaining.
