Since my boyfriend and I love sweets, we’ve made it a point to check out as many dessert places as we can on our visits to Maui. We know all of the island’s favorite hotspots now when we’re looking for an ice cream treat or even a combination of shaved ice and ice cream!

Island Cream Co. – Best Ice Cream in Maui

Located in a shopping center and hidden from view as it faces the parking lot, Island Cream Co. is a great ice cream parlor in Maui. Locals and tourists consistently come here for the best ice cream, shaved ice, and shakes.

Their ice cream is often described as an incredible mix between gelato and ice cream, and after trying it, we agree! They have 150 unique and delicious flavors you can sample before getting (guess who tried one too many?)

We decided on the Coconut Haupia and banana chip, which were both excellent – so smooth and creamy! You can also get shaved ice prepared from various flavors and shaved ice syrup topping on your ice cream.

We loved the indulgent desserts at Island Cream Co. since they serve the best ice cream in Maui.

You can make your shake from any selection of combinations and toppings.
They prepare 36 flavors of ice cream fresh daily.
There’s usually a line, but it moves quickly.

Lappert’s – Best Ice Cream Kihei Maui

Lappert’s is one of the most famous ice cream chains in Hawaii, with stores in Maui, Oahu, and Kauai, and they even have their flavors stocked in many parlors. They’re famous for delicious waffle cones, addictive flavors, and the great Kona coffee sold here.

Try the banana fudge, macadamia nut, coconut, and caramel flavors with hot fudge sauce, which are all super rich and creamy. You can also get a Hana Hau, one or two scoops of ice cream with your topping of choice.

My boyfriend and I stopped here for some freshly brewed coffee made from local Hawaiian grounds. We also tried the Kauai Pie Mocha and Caramel Latte, really creamy and not too sweet.

You’ll love the great flavors of ice cream and coffee at Lappert’s, definitely one of the best places for ice cream in Maui.

Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice – Best Ice Cream in Lahaina Maui

I’ll admit that shaved ice isn’t ice cream; it’s better! Especially if you try the Maui-famous Ululani’s, which serves freshly made syrups, toppings, and flavorings to go on all their shaved ice cones.

There are tons of flavors to choose from, and you build your own shaved ice cone with a choice of toppings and flavors. We highly recommend getting fruit flavors like apple, mango, raspberry, and blueberry, which taste like eating fresh fruit right off a tree!

Crowd favorite combos are the Na Ka Oi (The Best), including mango, coconut, and passion fruit, and Sunset Beach, which is mango, passion orange, and guava.

No matter what you try at Ululani’s, it’ll be amazing since they’re the best shaved ice in Maui.

There are long lines at Ululani’s and an even longer wait, but worth every second for the treat awaiting.

Coconut Glen’s – Best Vegan Ice Cream Maui

If your Maui trip includes a drive on Road to Hana (and it always should), stop by Coconut Glen’s on your way, that’s hidden between some winding roads at mile marker 27.

This is a great find for vegans as they make rich ice cream from coconut milk with great flavors that everyone needs to try.

Some favorites include the lilikoi, chili chocolate, chocolate chunk, and pineapple banana. Our favorites were the Lemon Goji Berry and Lemongrass Ginger.

You can get the same size of ice cream for $8, so get two scoops of different flavors, and you’ll be in ice cream heaven for days.

We loved the local flavors at Coconut Glen’s and their terrific take on vegan ice cream, making them one of the best ice creams in Maui.

Despite the hidden path, there are long lines here, so prepare to wait.
You can sample as many flavors as you like before getting one.

Paia Gelato Company

Paia Gelato is a small shop on the way to Road to Hana, which sells amazing gelato, iced coffee, and a full breakfast menu. Their gelato is incredibly rich and flavorful and has some great flavors.

The macadamia nut, pistachio, and sandy beach flavors are excellent, which you can get in a cup, sugar cone, or waffle cone, topped with a scoop of sorbet. They also serve delicious non-dairy flavors like mango and coconut.

My boyfriend also tried their iced coffee, which was really rich. Get their Toddy cold brew espresso and Iced White Chocolate Mocha.

In addition, their deli menu has a variety of options for sandwiches, breakfast items, smoothies, and fresh juices, which are a great pick-up option if you’re driving the Road to Hana.

We loved Paia Gelato Company’s convenient location, excellent ice cream, and coffee.

You can buy pints of their ice cream flavors with a special discount on Monday and Tuesday.
They serve lunch boxes with a sandwich, chips, and a cookie for $10.95.
The service is really friendly and patient.

Banyan Treats

This local ice creamery in Lahaina is a real treat for people that love a cookie on the side of their ice cream. Plus, there’s a large banyan tree outside where people sit and enjoy their sweet treats.

They have many ice cream flavors, of which the Vanilla Macadamia Crunch is the most famous. We loved their Kona coffee and Banana Macadamia nut flavors, and the ice cream was smooth and creamy.

Don’t forget to get the Mo’o or mini Mo’o, a scoop of ice cream, and your choice cookie. The cookies are just as good as the ice cream, especially the coconut, choc chip mac nut, and the Hawaiian kiss.

You’ll love this cozy shop for its delicious ice cream and small-town feeling, making it one of the best places to get ice cream in Maui.

Maui Gelato is an island favorite gelateria, known for delicious gelato, Belgian waffles, and shaved ice. They’re a local hangout spot near Kamaole Beach, so expect to see a lot of locals and tourists here.

Get their sampler with four different waffles topped with peanut butter and chocolate. The waffles are decadent, made fresh, and come in huge portion sizes. In fact, all desserts at Maui Gelato come in large portions, so bring a friend along to share!

You can also get a mix of shaved ice and gelato, that’s a delicious combination. Our favorites were the salted caramel and cookie crunch gelato, which weren’t too sweet and carried flavor well.

We loved Maui Gelato for its closeness to the beach, and you should try it for some of the best ice cream in Maui.
