Best Happy Hour Kihei 2023

My boyfriend and I took a short trip to Kihei for our anniversary this year.

Kihei offers a fun local atmosphere with a strong happy hour tradition. They have so many diverse options, from traditional sports bars and funky local grills to upscale and elegant dining, that you will want to visit them all. Most have live entertainment and offer awesome deals on drinks.

We are big happy hour fans, so we’ve dined at some of the best places Hawaii offers.

Whether it’s the perfect taco, chicken wings, or tasty cocktail you are looking for, Keihe has something to offer – usually with a view!

Check out my top 3 picks for happy hour based on food selection and quality, drink options, prices, service, and atmosphere.

#1. Three’s Bar and Grill – Best Upscale Fusion Happy Hour

Three's Bar and Grill – Best Upscale Fusion Happy

This bar was the best happy hour on our trip! I was so glad to find this hidden treasure.

The location is perfect, and the outside seating area has a breathtaking view. There was mellow live music playing, which perfectly set the mood.

The food here is high quality, with generous portions and creative Asian fusion options. Most items on the happy hour menu cost about $10 each, and there is a lot to choose from. We went a bit overboard and ordered way too much food. My favorites were:

  • Bacon and Brussels sprouts with ginger and garlic.
  • Crispy pork belly with green papaya salad.
  • The garlic fried noodles.

Every taste was unique and exciting. I loved the flavor combinations, especially the papaya salad and garlic noodles. My boyfriend loved the unagi avocado roll and the panko-crusted Ahi roll. The fish was fresh, buttery, and perfectly cut. All the ingredients were fresh and made in-house.

You will love the margaritas here. They were so good I had several top-shelf margaritas, which were $8.25 each. We even tried the hot shots (fireball cinnamon whisky), which were $6 each. I am not a fan of whiskey, but this was an exciting tasting experience.

They also have excellent wine options.

Make Three’s Bar and Grill your top happy hour priority because:

  • The food is high quality, with many delicious choices and an excellent sushi roll menu.
  • The drinks are solid and tasty, and the bartenders keep them coming.
  • They have an excellent wine selection during happy hour.
  • The venue is beautiful, and live music perfectly sets the mood.

#2. What Ales You Tap House – Best Easygoing Tavern & Grill for Happy Hour

What Ales You Tap House – Best Easygoing Tavern & Grill for Happy Hour

This place was my favorite – and a must for happy hour. It is a craft beer paradise.

This cheerful local gathering is easygoing and spacious, and the staff always smiles. The inside has comfortable seating and a bar with big screens. The outside has comfortable covered seating decorated with lots of funky plants.

Happy hour at this tavern is from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. each day. There is $2 off all appetizers, or take advantage of the daily special. We were there for Taco Tuesday and had Mahi tacos for only $4 each. The tacos were fresh and perfectly seasoned, and the portion was big. We added a portion of onion rings, and they had a tasty ranch sauce. (We will definitely check out wing Wednesdays on our next trip!)

Beer and wine were $2 off, and they had 20 craft and local beers on tap. So we indulged in some premium lager with our meal. It was the coldest and most delicious beer of our trip.

We had so much fun. We stayed much longer and enjoyed some live music, which was perfect for the atmosphere.

It is my second pick for happy hour because:

  • The space is beautiful and looks like a small hidden oasis.
  • The atmosphere is friendly, and the staff is friendly.
  • The food is tasty and nicely portioned, and many fun options are off the menu.
  • They have the largest selection of beer on the island.
  • It’s worth visiting several times to try out all the daily specials and drink options.

#3. Lava Rock Bar & Grill – Best American Sports Bar Happy Hour

Lava Rock Bar & Grill – Best American Sports Bar Happy Hour

This bar has a little bit of everything and everything is well done. If you are a fan of the classic sports bar, there is a huge spacious bar with big screens constantly streaming the game. They have a spacious and covered patio with a partial sunset and palm tree view if you want a view. They also have a vibrant nightlife, so stay late for live music nights, karaoke, and DJs.

Also, this place has two happy hours! Enjoy from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.!

We did the earlier happy hour because it was less crowded. I immediately felt at home here. We had a great outside table, and our server was super friendly and accommodating. They have 50% off appetizers, so we jumped in with some Dynamite Tempura Shrimp, which was flavorful and crunchy. I liked the garlic aioli and tempura sauce. We also had chicken wings and lava fries, which were both excellent. The Thai and buffalo sauces were a hit with the wings.

We tried the Mai Tai and Margaritas for drinks, which were $5 each (and delicious!) Select beers were only $3 each. My favorite was the Margaritas, which came with a fresh orchid and yummy rim salt.

If there is a unique sporting event to view during your trip, this is the spot to watch it.

This place is excellent for catching a game or enjoying happy hour because:

  • The happy hour deals are excellent, and the food and drinks taste excellent.
  • They have two happy hours, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • They have comfortable outside seating that is covered and overlooks the ocean in the distance.
  • Service is fun, attentive, and friendly.
