#1. RumFire – Best Happy Hour in Honolulu- The Sheraton’s Posh, Beachside Lounge

RumFire - Best Happy Hour - The Sheraton's Posh, Beachside Lounge

Nothing will brighten your days like the view from the RumFire terrace and a cocktail in your hand. This place is best known for its thriving nightlife, parties, and music. But secretly, it has the best happy hour too. From 3 pm to 5 pm, this place offers delicious food and drinks in a tranquil beachside atmosphere and nicely-placed fire pits. Like you would expect from Sheraton.

We made a reservation ahead of time and were seated immediately. Our waiter made small talk and served everything quickly, so we liked him. He came out with our drinks quickly.

I had a signature Mia Tia and the smokey passion margarita (with passion fruit and lime). Both were under $10 each. The menu had some great beer and wine options as well. My boyfriend ordered Stella (his favorite beer).

The food was impressive and the menu was well-planned. The taste here is a fusion between Asian, barbeque, and Mexican. I loved the Korean fried chicken wings, pork & shrimp lumpia, and RumFire fried rice. It’s difficult to say which one is better than the other. The flavors are tangy, zesty, sweet, and musky. Everything is fresh and beautifully served, and the portions are generous.

Don’t miss out on this awesome happy hour experience because:

  • The food is delicious and of high quality.
  • The panoramic view of the mountains and beach is beautiful, and the vibe is relaxing.
  • They make an awesome cocktail and have superior wine and beer options.
  • Service is professional, friendly, and accommodating.

#2. LBD Japanese Bar & Lounge – Cheap Happy Hour Honolulu Japanese Bar and Lounge

LBD Japanese Bar & Lounge - Cheap Happy Hour Honolulu Japanese Bar and Lounge

This is a great (and new) bar and lounge in Honolulu (in the same building as the old Nobu – for the locals). This lounge is an open-air venue and is one of the trendiest spots I’ve been to in Honolulu. The large wooden bar is modern and stylish. The tables are spacious and suitable for smaller groups. The closest parking is across the street at Ward Village if you drive.

We made an online happy hour reservation (from 4 pm to 6 pm) and were seated within a few minutes of arriving. Our waiter was pleasant, friendly, and attentive. In general, the atmosphere is relaxed, with mostly young locals. We enjoyed the menu, which had a lot of creative small-plate options. We had a delicious meal.

I highly recommend the Beef Tsukune (ground Miyazaki A5 Wagyu and US Angus beef w/ cilantro jalapeno sauce) and the Pork Belly Skewer. The meat was tender, perfectly marinated, and beautifully served. We also enjoyed the sushi. We ordered the spicy tuna and salmon roll for only $7 each. The fish was fresh and buttery. The portions are nice (8 pieces on each roll) and served beautifully.

The drink menu is small but carefully selected to complement the food. There is a draft beer available for only $5. The daily featured wines were also a great deal at $8 each. We decided to treat ourselves to several cocktails. The Lycheetini (Soju, Lychee Juice, Fresh Lychee) was delicious, fresh, and strong. They are $8 each and well worth it. There are also daily features sake options.

Overall I loved everything about this place. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the food and drinks were elegant and tasty. The prices are reasonable for what you get.

LBD Japanese Bar & Lounge is my second choice because:

  • The food is high-end Japanese with a fresh and modern taste.
  • The happy hour menu has plenty of options, including generous portions of sushi.
  • The drinks are perfectly paired with the food they serve. They have some excellent house wines and sake.
  • Service is fast and friendly.

#3. Yard House – Early Happy Hour Honolulu – Best High-End Sports-Bar Chain

Yard House – Early Happy Hour Honolulu - Best High-End Sports-Bar Chain

This top-tier all-around sports bar has comfortable seating, big-screen games streaming, and large portions of everything. There is a small section of outside seating that is great for people-watching. Happy hour is from 2 pm to 5:30 pm (Monday to Friday), so they get started early.

We didn’t have a reservation, so we waited for half an hour to be seated. It was well worth it, and we got super comfy booth seating. Our server was helpful and quick without rushing us. At happy hour, prices are well discounted. A long list of appetizers and pizzas is all 50% off.

We had chicken tenders, onion rings, chicken BBQ pizza, and pepperoni and mushroom pizza. Everything was really tasty. The pizzas were rich with toppings, and the cheese was high quality. The crust was the perfect combination of chewy and crunchy. The portion of chicken and onion rings is large and perfectly seasoned.

All the drinks are $2 off. They have a huge selection of domestic and international beer (too many to count). The wine, whiskey, and cocktail menus are also very impressive. I tried several cocktails that were strong, flavorful, and perfectly presented. I recommend the Passion Fruit Mojito and the Guavarita (super tropical!)

Overall this place will make you feel at home.

It is my third pick because:

  • The food is hardy and tasty, and there are many delicious options.
  • They have an endless menu of drinks, including a diverse beer menu and many cocktail options.
  • This is a place to watch the game or enjoy light rock music.
  • The discounted prices are well worth it.

This is a super local spot in Oahu, Hawaii. If you are not looking for it you will miss it. The space inside is small but well-designed, a favorite among the happy hour in Honolulu locations. It’s decorated in a modern wood and metal style, with many bar seats downstairs and some secluded tables upstairs.

Happy hour is on weekdays from 4 to 6 pm and gets crowded. So make reservations. We were seated upstairs, so we had nice privacy. Our waitress was welcoming and helpful. Most things on the happy hour menu are $1 to $2 off, including food and drink. The menu was small but tasty, with specials like adobo chicken wings and waffle fries.

We ordered some street tacos, truffle fries, and flatbread with garlic, onions, mushrooms, and pork. The food was nicely seasoned and well prepared. The style reminded me of a homemade meal. They have delicious sauces at the table, which we couldn’t get enough of. I liked the mango pineapple hot sauce.

They have a great drink specials menu, with a variety of drinks including Mai Tai. The wines are impressive, and the cocktails are original and tasty. My smoking pig cocktail came with an olive, lemon peel, and tasty fried bacon strip. This was a first for me!

#5. Duke’s Canoe Club – The Best Outdoor Happy Hour in Waikiki

Duke's Canoe Club – Outdoor Happy Hour Honolulu - The Authentic Kauai Experience with a Beautiful Beach View

Another great place to experience the Hawaiian spirit and enjoy happy hour is Duke’s Canoe Club. The restaurant is located on a beach and has fun live music and a tiki vibe.

Happy hour is from 3 pm to 6 pm and from 9 pm to 11 pm, perfect for those who love an early dinner. Both are worth checking out – make a reservation. We were seated outside, like eating on the beach but with superior service. Our waiter was friendly and quickly accommodated everything we wanted.

I highly recommend crab cakes (made with real and fresh crab meat) and coconut shrimp. Both were extremely fresh, perfectly seasoned, and well-portioned. My boyfriend loved the sticky Korean rice too, reminding him of the food menu at Appetito.

The drink options are vast, and I loved the cocktail menu. The coconut mojito was my favorite, and the Sangria was quite good too. Asides from the cocktails, they had a comprehensive wine and beer menu. After our meal, we took a beautiful walk on the beach and took some amazing photos. We loved it.

Note: They have amazing specials all week long, including the breakfast buffet, prime rib buffet, and taco Tuesday. It’s worth visiting several times.

We loved this spot because:

  • The beach seating is amazing, and the panoramic view is amazing, reminding us of the views from Diamond Head, Hawaii.
  • The food is tasty, and the portions are large.
  • The cocktails are some of the finest on our trip, comparable to those served at high-end establishments in California and Brussels.
