We’ve tried everything from upscale cafes in Honolulu serving luxury breakfasts to laid-back joints in Waikiki and Kailua, with delicious local favorites honed over time.

Sweet E’s – Best Local Breakfast in Oahu

Sweet E’s has been a Honolulu favorite for locals and tourists since they opened doors in 2011. They’ve become a part of every top-10 breakfast list in Oahu for the excellent service and delicious food. Even though they’re crowded during breakfast hours, you can get a seat, and your order taken within fifteen minutes of arriving.

Some of their famous items include a range of omelets, Eggs Benedict, and burrito bowls. We tried all of them (with help from some hungry friends) and agree that their Eggs Benedict are unmatched! These come in a few flavors, but the Corned Beef Hash was our favorite, served with warm oven-roasted potatoes and house coffee; indeed, a breakfast like no other.

Since most tourists rave about their French toast, we had those too, which were incredible! You want to try the Stuffed Blueberry Cream Cheese ones, which come as three thick slices of sweet Hawaiian bread topped with fresh fruits. They were so flavorful, and the bread feels like it’s melting in your mouth!

We couldn’t eat everything at Sweet E’s, but you should, as they’re the best Hawaiian breakfast in Oahu.

If you visit Koko Head Cafe for breakfast, don’t miss their Cornflake Crusted French Toast. This delicacy comes with creamy frosted flake gelato, drenched in black-pepper maple syrup; it’s insanely delicious and will have you swooning for days.

However, suppose you’re looking for savory breakfast options. In that case, a great one is loco moco, which comes in a skillet with crispy garlic rice, premium-quality beef patties topped with mushroom gravy, and sunny side eggs. My boyfriend and I are big fans of their loco moco and have it on every trip.

Although we’re not sure where the name comes from, YogurStory is hands down one of the best breakfast joints in Oahu. They have a great variety on their breakfast menu and some delicious healthy options.

However, they get a lot of crowds during rush hours, so you’ll have to wait between 15-45 minutes for your order.

The wait is well worth the epic food that comes after. The Ube Pancakes are crowd pleasers; sweet-potato pancakes topped with Ube coconut sauce, which taste heavenly! You can’t even tell it’s healthy for how delicious the breakfast is here.

However, their traditional breakfast options are equally amazing. Try the juicy prime rib loco moco with over-easy eggs that’s packed with flavor. In addition, their fried rice loaded with sausages and eggs and crab cake Eggs benedict topped with spicy hollandaise sauce are local Hawaiian favorites.

No matter what you try at YogurStory, it’ll be a delight. Some things to know before you visit:

If you’re looking for the best acai bowls and coffee in Waikiki, head straight to Island Vintage Coffee and try their delectable breakfast. They’re known for the rich Kona coffee, made with a traditional roasted blend, on their menu.

Their Wailua and Lilikoi acai bowls are refreshing, laden with fresh fruits like papaya, passionfruit, and bananas, and drizzled with white honey, peanut butter, and crunchy granola. My boyfriend doesn’t usually like acai bowls but finished theirs in one go!

They also have great breakfast sandwiches and salads. Try the Kale Caesar salad with island fish, along with the sausage and egg bagel for a delicious combo.

The food at Island Vintage Coffee is unmissable for healthy eaters who don’t compromise on flavor.

If you ask anyone on the streets of Waikiki where the best breakfast place is, they’ll direct you straight to Goofy Cafe & Dine. As it’s such a local favorite, this cozy cafe has long lines before opening at 7 am and an excellent breakfast.

Get their Goofy omelet, three fluffy eggs with organic mixed veggies, Portuguese sausage, avocado, mushroom, & cheese – a house favorite and incredibly flavorful. Plus, you can choose between wheat or taro muffins on the side.

Their loco moco is pretty unique and one of my regulars at Goofy. Two beef patties, king-sized sunny side eggs, drizzled with homemade gravy and brown rice, instead of the usual white rice, which gives their loco moco a rich umami flavor.

Other great items include the salmon Eggs Benedict, fried rice, and French toast, all made fresh with organic produce and taste divine!

We loved Goofy for their huge portion sizes, and you will, too, since they’re the best breakfast in Waikiki, Oahu.

Their menu has good vegan options, and the chefs will even alter some items, like fried rice, to make them vegan-friendly.
Their service is fast so you won’t have to wait more than thirty minutes despite the crowds.
Their food is reasonably priced, around $20-25 per person for huge portions of breakfast and coffee.

Kailua

Moke’s Bread and Breakfast Oahu

If you’re looking for a small and cozy cafe to have a lazy Sunday breakfast and the best pancakes in Kailua, head to Moke’s. They’ll be crowded no matter when you go, but their excellent breakfast menu is worth the wait.

They’re famous for their Lilikoi pancakes, light as air and topped with passion-fruit sauce, which is so delicious that regular maple syrup will never be good enough again. Combined with their Hawaiian coffee makes this an unforgettable breakfast that you’ll be returning for.

They also serve excellent traditional breakfasts such as; eggs with sausage and fried rice, various omelets with fresh veggies, and chef’s special Corned Beef Hash.

If you love loco moco, try their Loco Moke, which has a house-cut rib eye steak cooked to perfection, or the chili loco moco with homemade chili and cheese.

We loved Moke’s for their laid-back vibe and fantastic food; definitely one of the best breakfasts in Oahu.

The wait staff is really friendly and has excellent service.

Cinnamon’s – Best Cheap Breakfast in Oahu

Cinnamon’s is a Kailua favorite for its low prices and delicious sweet breakfasts. You can expect crowds here during the day, especially at breakfast, but come early and get a good seat in their cozy dining area.

A local describes their guava chiffon pancakes as ‘heaven-sent’, and we couldn’t agree more! They’re light and fluffy, with a rich and creamy pink guava sauce that’ll have you swooning after the first bite. Since they have a whole range of pancakes, we tried the pistachio and red velvet ones, too which are just as delicious.

As the name suggests, they serve freshly baked cinnamon rolls the size of your face (I may have measured) and are super flavorful. Some other great items include the Hawaiian omelet with chicken, eggs benedict, and sweet bread french toast.

Cinnamon’s is a great option for a filling breakfast and a bang for your buck.

There’s valet parking outside the restaurant for $1.
They’re not so packed during the weekdays.
